In my new Medium series of various paradoxes of life, The Advice Paradox is fourth paradox I am addressing. Previous stories covered The Relatability Paradox, The Money Paradox and The Promotion Paradox, which stems from my personal experiences and observations over the years. In today’s digital world, it’s strange that most observations are now based on the social media presence of people around you. It’s not surprising anymore, but a bit alarming because there is no fact-check or any verification of the information being presented. Most people are trying to adjust to the new world order, and falling for either a Relatability Trap or giving in for the Hype Hustle.
What I did not address in my previous stories, is how we are making people with no expertise an bona fide experts of the subject matters. In our hyperconnected digital world of notification sounds, the advice flows like a digital river, readily available from every corner of the internet. With the endless flow of information, a curious paradox emerges: those with the least experience often shout the loudest. If you look closely, people with empty bank accounts dispense financial wisdom, those navigating emotional turmoil offer relationship guidance, and individuals grappling with their faith become spiritual teachers, people with no jobs will give career advice and so on.
